About me
I live in LaGrange, GA and am a mom to four beautiful children, ages 10 to 2. My first three babies were born in hospitals in Ohio, and my last was born at home in the water here in Georgia, into his Daddy's hands, with the assistance of a midwife.
I completed my labor doula training in April of 2007 through CAPPA (Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association), and I have since attended several births in several different hospitals, with both midwives and obstetricians as the primary care providers. Childbirth has been my passion since my first pregnancy, and I have been independently studying and training for my eventual goal of assisting other women in birth for over 10 years.
Every pregnant family deserves to have a doula...
My job as a doula is multi-faceted:
*First, to make sure that families have the information and support they need to make decisions during the childbearing year.
*Second, to provide physical support: massage, position change, and other techniques to help labor progress smoothly.
*Third, to facilitate dad in his support of the laboring mother.
*Finally, to protect the birthing family ~ to "hold the space" around them so they feel confident and comfortable.
Every pregnant family deserves to have a doula ~ the person whose only concern is the satisfaction of the laboring mom and her partner. I am proud to be offering LaGrange doula services, as well as our surrounding areas! I am also currently studying and training to be a childbirth educator through Passion for Birth, a Lamaze accredited program.
